1940s
The Brighton Beach Surf Shop origin goes all the way back in the forties. It begins with founder Richard Lisiewski reading a popular mechanics magazine and seeing an article on how to build a surfboard. With a little help young Richard built his first surfboard. Its maiden voyage was Seaside NJ. The board worked great. It was everything Richard wanted it to be. Un fortunately on the excited drive home the board blew off the roof and was run over by a large truck. This sparked
